Tadelakt is a traditional wall covering technique used in Morocco for centuries. The name comes from the Arabic word “tadlik”, which means “rub”. The technique consists in applying a lime plaster on the walls in large layers, then polishing it with a pebble to obtain a smooth and shiny finish and avoid cracking.
To allow everyone to make a tadelakt without technical difficulties, bioloors has made a point of traditional Tadelakt replica, a plaster -based and hydraulic coating with constant, easier to work and more regular than Marrakech lime with its Bits of clay, this Tadelakt is to be applied in two layers rather than the many passes necessary for Moroccan Tadelakt.
Tadelakt is often used in hammams (public baths) in Morocco, because it is impermeable and resistant to mold. In addition, it can be tinted in a variety of colors, which makes it very popular for interior decorations. It is also very popular in domestic use for bathrooms, jacuzzi, and all the wet places.
If you want to make your Tadelakt yourself and develop your “home” recipe, Biologment offers different types of lime as well as natural pigments to color it to your taste
The implementation of the tadelakt biolooly is simplified, with a plate in two passes after having prepared the support with care so that it is regular and stable. Make sure to tighten the material well in the second pass so that it is smooth and with frozen appearance, it is the secret of a sublime and resistant coating. Our special lime sub -layer is essential to guarantee the right grip of the Tadelakt.
Once dry to heart, the application of a quality water repellent is necessary for the use of supports in a contemporary way (projection of products that are found in a bathroom, etc.). Our waterproof T deeply penetrates the material and leaves no visible film once dry.
We then recommend the application of 2 passes in our wax to Carnauba to strengthen its water protection.
How to maintain it?
The application of a finishing wax (generally carnau wax or saponified wax for very clear colors) enhances the coating and facilitates its maintenance. Very little material is enough. Then polish with care before the wax dry.
Avoid using aggressive products to clean your tadelakt, prefer a mild soap soap with a neutral pH. Do not hesitate to feed your coating with a wax pass throughout his life.
